Bahlul Lodi was the powerful Afghan governor of Sirhind and Punjab who eventually took over the throne from the weak Sayyid ruler, Alam Shah.

Mubarak Shah is considered the ablest ruler of the dynasty. He suppressed rebellions in Bhatinda and the Doab and attempted to reorganize the administration.

Khizr Khan had the Khutba read in the name of the Mongol conqueror Timur (and later his son Shah Rukh) to acknowledge their suzerainty.

Sarwar-ul-Mulk was the wazir (prime minister) who led the conspiracy to assassinate Mubarak Shah due to the Sultan's attempts to curb the wazir's powers.

The Tomb of Muhammad Shah is located in the Lodi Gardens in Delhi. It is a fine example of the octagonal tombs of the Sayyid and Lodi periods.

There were four rulers in the Sayyid Dynasty: Khizr Khan, Mubarak Shah, Muhammad Shah, and Alauddin Alam Shah.

Although appointed by Timur, Khizr Khan later recognized the suzerainty of Timur's son and successor, Shah Rukh, and even sent him tribute.

The primary reason was the incompetence of the later Sayyid rulers, who could not control the turbulent Afghan nobles and lost control over the provinces.

The Sayyid Dynasty was succeeded by the Lodi Dynasty in 1451 AD, founded by Bahlul Lodi.

Alauddin Alam Shah voluntarily abdicated the throne in favor of Bahlul Lodi and retired to Badaun, where he lived until his death in 1478 AD.
