Frequently Asked Questions
Is HEC the same as ETC?
No. HEC is the higher-education regulator, while ETC (Education Testing Council) is the HEC-linked body administering standardised tests like USAT, HAT, LAT and LAW-GAT. ETC was formally established on 25 January 2017 under HEC.
Which HAT category applies to my field?
HAT is offered in 5 categories: HAT-I (Engineering, Technology, CS, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics), HAT-II (Management Sciences, Business Education), HAT-III (Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Psychology, Law), HAT-IV (Agriculture, Veterinary, Biological, Medical, Physical Sciences, Education, Media), and HAT-General (Religious Studies/Madrasa Graduates). Always confirm your required category from the current programme or scholarship notice.
How long is a HAT score valid?
According to the official HEC HAT information sheet, a HAT score is valid for 2 years from the date of the test. Some scholarship or admission schemes may have stricter validity rules; confirm from the current notice.
Is USAT compulsory for undergraduate admission?
No. As of June 2024, HEC clarified that USAT is optional — universities may use it as one component but cannot make it the sole admission criterion. Always verify admission requirements directly from the target university.
What is the HAT test fee?
Per the official HEC information sheet, the HAT test fee is PKR 2,000 per candidate. Verify the current fee on the official ETC portal before payment as it may be updated.
Can MCQsMind confirm test dates, fee amounts, or eligibility?
No. MCQsMind provides preparation material only. Use the official testing-service website or the URL printed in the current advertisement for dates, fee instructions, eligibility, roll slips, answer keys, and results.
Which subjects should I prepare for recruitment tests?
Most recruitment tests include English, General Knowledge, Pakistan Affairs, Current Affairs, Islamiat or Ethics, Everyday Science, Math or General Ability, Reasoning, Computer, and post-related subject knowledge. The official syllabus always takes priority.
Should I use old papers or only new MCQs?
Use both. Old papers help you understand repeated areas, while new topic-wise MCQs help you cover the latest syllabus and improve speed for screening tests.
