The Slave Dynasty was succeeded by the Khilji Dynasty (1290–1320) after Jalaluddin Khilji overthrew the last Slave ruler.

After suppressing the rebellion in Bengal, Iltutmish appointed Malik Jani as the governor of Bengal.

The tomb of Balban is located in the Mehrauli Archaeological Park in Delhi. It is significant for featuring the first true arch in Indo-Islamic architecture.

Iltutmish diplomatically refused to give asylum to Jalaluddin Mangbarani, the Khwarezm Shah, thereby preventing Chengiz Khan from invading India.

The Qutub Minar was named after the famous Sufi saint Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki, who was highly revered by Qutb ud-Din Aibak and Iltutmish.

The Slave Dynasty ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1206 AD (accession of Aibak) to 1290 AD (end of Kayumars' rule).

Balban organized an efficient spy system. The spies, known as 'Barids', reported directly to the Sultan about the activities of the nobles and officials.

Nasiruddin Mahmud (1246–1266) was known as the 'Darvesh King' because he lived a pious life, spending his time in prayer and copying the Quran, leaving administration to Balban.

In 1229 AD, Iltutmish received the Mansur (Letter of Investiture) from the Caliph, which legally recognized him as an independent Sultan.

Iltutmish belonged to the Ilbari tribe of Turks. Hence, the dynasty is sometimes referred to as the Ilbari Dynasty.
