A sheath (میان) is a close-fitting 'protective covering' (حفاظتی غلاف), typically for the 'blade' (دھار) of a knife or sword.

Severe (سخت) means very great, intense, or 'harsh' (شدید). A severe punishment is a harsh one. 'Vague' (مبہم) is an antonym.

To sever (کاٹنا) means to divide by cutting or slicing; to 'cut off' (الگ کرنا) a part from a whole. 'Severe' (سخت) is a different word meaning harsh.

Serene (پرسکون) means 'calm and peaceful' (پُرامن اور پرسکون), and untroubled. 'Happy' (خوش) is related but not as precise. 'Alluring' (دلکش) means attractive.
